Yes We Can! and Yes We Did!! Y. E. Smith met 100% of our AYP goals!! We reported a 21.3 percentage-point gain in our composite math and reading scores; the largest increase out of all the elementary schools.

Y.E. Smith Elementary Museum School hosts 350 students in grades K through five who are drawn from a neighborhood zone located in east Durham. Students are distributed through 18 regular education classrooms and two special needs classrooms.
Facilities:Much work is being dedicated to making Smith a school that prepares its students for the 21st Century. The school hosts fully equipped science labs, complete with design and construction workspaces, a wireless, mobile computer lab and multimedia equipment for student and teacher use. Each classroom is center based, allowing for instruction and exploration in math, literacy, science and technology, and museum learning. |
